MEC visits Barkly East to launch a low cost housing project

Housing, Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC Gugile Nkwinti visits Barkly East to launch a low-cost housing project for 511 
families.

The project that costs approximately R8, 4m, is the first low-cost housing development for Barkly East.

The developer, Barkly East TLC, has constructed a 40m2 top structure using a labour intensive process. The areas bucket system will be 
converted into full water borne sanitation in line with Provincial Policy guidelines ensuring a quality end product to the beneficiaries.

The project has employed about 50 local people from unskilled and semi-skilled labourers under the supervision of V3 Construction Company 
as project managers.

The launch will be held at Barkly East Municipal Town Hall and commences at 11am. The official handing over of keys to beneficiaries will 
be done at New Ville, the site for the new housing development
